Visually-Impaired athletes in Pindi Marathon

Rawalpindi: Hundreds of people took part in the 'Rawalpindi
Marathon' from T-chowk Rawat and Morgah to the sports complex in Liaquat Bagh.
The marathon was organized by the District Sports Department
in collaboration with the district administration. In the category of visually
impaired athletes from Morgah to Liaquat Bagh, Saifullah of Peshawar won first
place, Irfanullah of Mardan came in second and Mohammad Akram of Gujranwala
third.
In the second six-kilometer open field, Mohammad Akhtar from
the Sahiwal won first place, Mohammad Israr from Rawalpindi second and Sherkhan
from Jhelum in third place.
In the third round of 16 kilometers, Sultan Ashiq of Lahore
won first place, Usama Hassan of Lahore second and Noor Shehrwan of Sargodha
third.
Retired Deputy Commissioner Captain Anwarul Haq inaugurated the
race. Speaking at the awards ceremony, he said, "We have proved to the world
that special people can showcase their talents by participating in such mega
events." DC said he also thanked the Department of Sport, Police, Traffic
Police, Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments for making the event a
success.
