Peshawar: Minister for Law, Parliamentary affairs and Human Rights Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sultan Mohammad Khan on Tuesday sent his resignation to Prime Minister Mahmood Khan after he was asked to resign following a video circulating on social media showing him and other lawmakers allegedly receiving money by changing the integrity before the Senate elections in March 2018.  

Captured in the video are Pakistan People Party parliamentary leader Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha, two MPAs of the QWP and other members of the ruling PTI. They are sitting at a table with lots of currency notes. The video that opened Pandora’s Box, clearly shows an unknown person who brings an empty bag and puts it in front of the former PTI MPA, and then starts filling it up with lots of money. In a letter of resignation addressed to the chief minister, the minister stated: “Because of the video that was circulated in the media today in which my name appeared, I see it as my duty and responsibility to resign from the cabinet and demand my resignation." Mr Bacha, when contacted for comment, has openly denied any involvement in the incident. He said clips of two different occasions were put together to give the impression that he was present when the money was paid to other MPAs. "I have neither received nor paid money to anyone and the video has been edited," he said. “It is not possible that when such huge sums of money are distributed, a man could maintain his confidence," he claimed. Mr Bacha said the timing of the leak was very important and came to light while awaiting a presidential directive on the Senate vote before the SC. He said Prime Minister Khan did not trust his MPAs at the time and had not done so yet. Surprisingly, he said the clip was leaked four years later, which raises a lot of questions.
